“Wearable Art” – Deconstruction, Composition and Metamorphosis. Fashion Art by Bernhard Lehner
Figures, made from differently curved chair legs tightly bolted together, soar up like gnarled trees. Usable as coat racks or lamp stands, they transcend mere utilisation, working as autonomous sculptures as well as pieces of furniture. Sometimes their striking appearance is reminiscent of human bodies in motion and with their singular features they even could be self-portraits of the artist. The surrealistic method of assembling and mounting different finds to morph them into something functional and new can also be used to describe Bernhard Lehner‘s fashion.
